We are moving forward with our Summer Camp registration remaining mindful that we must follow health and government guidelines for the pandemic which may affect how we are able to run the camps. Total capacity numbers for each camp may change without notice.
SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
This summer we will be hosting a wide range of interactive, week-long summer camps for children ages 6-12 at two agency locations, Summerside in the south-east and Westbrook in the south-west. All camps include aspects of the Kids with Confidence Social Skills Curriculum to encourage the development of social-emotional skills. Children will learn important life skills and make lifelong connections through fun and challenging activities, games and socializing. Camp leaders will create an engaging and supportive environment that will help children to build self-esteem and relationships with others.
Free before and after-camp care is available from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Children must bring their own (nut-free) lunch and snacks from home.
Express your ideas and show your originality at this exciting art camp! We will be exploring various mediums of art including paint, pastels and papier-mãché. On Friday we will even have our very own FFRN Art Exhibit for all the campers to show off their works of art which they can then take home in their own art portfolios. Along with art projects, campers will be challenged to think –outside-the-box and use their creativity with team-building challenges and problem solving games including obstacle courses and relay races. Each camper will get to unleash their creativity through a variety of games, activities and art projects that will boost their confidence and let loose their imaginations!
Lego has ENDLESS possibilities for active games and creative challenges. This week is bound to test your imagination and inventiveness. Not only will we build tall towers and funny faces, we will have Lego n’ Spoon races, Lego carnival –style games and so much more. If you want to challenge your Lego skills and learn about the many uses of this fascinating toy then come and explore the Land of Lego with FFRN and friends!
If you like to move and groove, hip and hop, twist and shout, then come on out to this week’s camp. We will blast to the past and dance our hearts out to some of the golden oldies and then jump back to the future and bust a move to some more current tunes including learning a goofy line dance and making up one of our own. Together we will test our Olympic skills at some field games like pool-noodle javelin, paper plate discus and paper-ball shot put. We will also learn warm up and cool down activities that our bodies will thank us for. This camp is about being active for life so let’s get moving and grooving!
The universe is a huge mystery that is just waiting to be explored. This week we will use our detective skills, practice experiments you can replicate at home and learn some Jedi mind skills. Scavenger hunts, slime-making and Star Wars Dodgeball are some examples of the fun that is waiting to be had this week. If that isn’t enough to excite you, be prepared to spot an alien and learn an alien handshake, to dig deep into the earth’s core and find out how and why volcano’s erupt and so much more. Be prepared for an adventure of mystery and discovery.
If you are interested in FAST things like race cars, cheetahs, rocket ships and the inner workings of our brains then THIS is the camp for you! We will explore all kinds of things that move and how to make things move through activities like paper airplane challenges, creating simple yet surprisingly quick balloon-powered race cars, and practice our quick-thinking skills with name games and brain challenges that are suitable for all ages. We will also learn some ways to calm ourselves down and focus when we get SUPER excited. This week will ZOOM by because everyone knows time flies when you are having fun.
This is your week to SHINE as you show off your natural talents and learn new skills you didn’t know you have. Things like balancing a balloon on your nose, writing and performing in a skit, hopping on one foot for a minute, or even licking your elbow. This camp is all about finding what makes you YOU! Each child can learn through movement and improv games, play and creative exploration. This week is bound to be fun and rewarding for everyone involved.
