This course will give the participants a very good understanding of the impact “Trauma” has on children of all ages, and if left untreated, how trauma can impact their future as adults. Specifically, the course will take a look at the topic of “Adverse childhood experiences” (Also known as ACEs), and discuss how these experiences impact brain development and attachment styles. The course will also look at “Attachment” specifically and how crucial it is for the healthy development of our children. Throughout these discussions, the course will address how this knowledge impacts how we parent and how we should rethink various discipline techniques. Emails will be sent out after registration closes with Google Meet information from the Family Centre. A Google account is required for the program.

Fred Sudfeld is a Master’s level Therapist and Registered Social Worker at The Family Centre. For the last 15 Years, Fred’s Main role has been as Clinical Supervisor overseeing 8 therapists working in high needs schools. In the last 5 years, The Family Centre has been committed to becoming a Trauma sensitive organization and Fred has been a part of bringing this message of Trauma and Attachment awareness to the schools and clients he works with.
