CHILD & YOUTH

The Child and Youth Program is aimed at school-age children to help them develop social skills such as problem solving, friendship building, effective communication, feelings and anger management, and self-esteem building. 

Programs are offered at designated schools during school hours and run weekly for 6 - 8 weeks. Most program curriculums are flexible and can be adapted to meet the needs of the students.

NEW!! SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY CAMPS

As part of our extended Child and Youth programming, Family Futures Resource Network is excited to offer school break day camps for ages 6 to 12! Join us for themed activities, arts, crafts, games, and more, utilizing our Kids with Confidence social skills curriculum.

Camps are offered for the full day, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with FREE before and after-camp care provided from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Children must bring their own lunch and healthy snacks (nut-free) from home. All children attending camps must have completed Kindergarten. 

Camp cost: $40 per day camp per child
Spring Break Camp: Full Week Only $140.00

Day camps are being offered at both our 
Westbrook and Summerside locations.

CANADA SAFETY COUNCIL PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH

**NEW** BABYSITTER TRAINING COURSE

Designed for young people who will reach the age of 12 or older

The Babysitter Training Course can help prevent injuries and promote responsible management of common situations that may arise while children are under the care of babysitters. This in-depth course is designed 
to develop transferable skills, and is delivered focussing on lectures, small group discussions, problem solving, student presentations, inquiry, role playing and instructor-led demonstrations. This program has been developed by the Canada Safety Council and is designed for young people who will reach the age of 12 or older within the calendar year. A final exam will be held on the last session. Participants must attend all sessions and obtain a passing grade of 75% on the final exam in order to obtain certification.

HOME ALONE PROGRAM

Designed for 10 years of age or older

Ideally, children should be supervised at all times by a responsible adult. However, today’s family situations often cannot accommodate this idea. The Home Alone Program is designed to provide children with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep them safe and constructively occupied. This program has been developed by the Canada Safety Council and is recommended for children who are at least 10 years of age or older within the calendar year. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

YOUTH/TEEN PROGRAMMING 

*NEW*Teen Art Night

RECOMMENDED AGE: 13-17 YEARS

Come & join us for a night full of art & creativity where we will be exploring/using various art mediums to celebrate everyone’s uniqueness & artisitic individuality. Each Teen Art Night will be different (& will have unique themes) where Teens will get a chance to delve into their artistic side & create awesome take-home projects. Teens will get a chance to paint, use pastels, explore clays and other mediums creating unique pieces of art & so much more. Sign-up today for one or more Teen Art Nights before the spots fill up & don’t forget to invite your friends to come along. Teen Art Nights may get a bit messy so please remember to come dressed for artistic success (bring a paint/older shirt). This program is open to all levels!

FFRN Youth Cooking Club

Designed to help youth (8 to 12 years old)

Come join us in this exciting new program designed to help youth (8 to 12 years old) learn the basics of cooking in the kitchen. We will focus on learning safe food handling practices, and learning about healthy food choices, all while making some delicious recipes!!! Each week the youth will follow a recipe and have a chance to sample their creations. They will also work on building a recipe book that they can take home at the end of the session.
